Love it or loathe it, I’m sure everyone can agree – 2020 really has been a year like no other. Last New Year, I remember thinking of all the different 20:20 vision messages and quotes I could come up with.
Well 2020! Who knew!
Nothing could prepare me for what was to come and the clarity and change of perspective that would come with it.
I was so excited for what lay ahead. My diary was full, I was looking forward to retreats and conference and travel and…
Little did I know…
Six days into the new year I was in A&E with a broken toe, six weeks later my diary emptied of all of my work over night. And then, a few more weeks after that, COVID-19 shut the world down.
For all the rollercoaster times I have gone through in business, when lockdown arrived I was scared. I had no idea what was coming next, and was numb for a short while with no idea what to do. They were the most unprecedented times. How I have now got fed up of hearing that word as the year has gone on….
A global pandemic, lockdown after lockdown, days and days isolated alone. 2020 was very, very different from any year before.
Which ever way you look at it, whatever your perspective, 2020 will be a year that none of us will ever forget. Reflecting is something I have done at this time for several years.
Looking back to previous years this one has had the same mix of happy and sad like every other year before; but that’s where similarities end. For me and for my Hundred Acre world 2020 has been one of the best years.
I don’t say that lightly.
For me 2020 has been about the difference in my world. About change, about my mindset and the clarity that would bring. With so many things well outside my control all I could do was live in the moment and do what I could to manage my happiness in that moment.
Nothing else mattered.
Once my mindset shifted from fear to action, my world started to evolve and even thrive.
This year I’ve done all the work I could to help and support clients when they needed me. I’ve worked with new clients to support them in times of need and to support them through the development and growth and the continual change to be managed from Covid, what I now refer to as the gift that keeps on giving.
I also went back to school and started studying again. I am DISC accredited and I’ve also completed the majority of a coaching qualification. I have one final assessment to complete in January and I am very excited to be able to bring something new to my Hundred Acre world in 2021.
As I drank the last sips of my champagne last New Years eve I had no idea what was around the corner. The same can be said this new year.
None of us know what is round the corner and for me – that’s ok.
Sat here now I am safe and warm and one eye is looking forward. This years champagne is chilling and I am ready for a new year, new opportunities and all that will bring.
Goodbye 2020 – Hello 2021!
From my safe place to yours – I wish you the happiest New Year 💚
