We are frequently asked about what we do and why we do it, not everyone understands health and safety and occasionally some don’t want to. We understand that so for this blog we thought we would go back to the start.
Putting it simply, we work with clients to look after their people. We can hear Bridget saying “It is not acceptable for someone to not get home safely at the end of each day. There is absolutely no reason why every father, mother, son and daughter shouldn’t make it home at the end of the day in the same, if not better, physical and mental state as they arrive.”
Traditionally health and safety companies have focused on the ‘S’. We recognise there is an ‘H’ too. As it was said to us recently ‘it’s more than just hard hats and checklists!’ We have a feeling that quote will be used quite a lot in the future.
One of our favourite things people say about what we do is that we are passionate. We have already commented not everyone understands what we do; and that’s ok. We want to work with companies that share our values. Who might not have a great pot of money for everything that we could do but they understand, they have a drive look after their people and therefore want to do something.
Every business we work with is unique and each one’s requirements are too. We work with staff to understand a business and develop a plan of work to establish a system that works for each company. The work we do starts with an Audit. An independent view of what you have, what you need and some recommendations of what comes next. Sometimes that’s it and other times, that’s the start of working together. Developing a plan of training and support, as many or as few days as clients request at a pace that fits their world.
Health and Safety is the only job our Founder and Director Bridget Gilmour has ever had and we think she has done a pretty good job to date and others think that too. There are a number of testimonials on our site and this blog has been shared a few times too – more about that another time.
